One thing that has been an issue for many homeowners during the COVID-19 crisis is what gets flushed down the toilet in their homes. With toilet paper shortages around the nation, some have chosen to use all types of unconventional items for the bathroom. There have even been reports of cloth rags being flushed down the toilet. While it is true that you can use many different things in place of toilet paper, that doesn’t mean that it is ok to flush them down the drain. In most cases, you are much safer by bagging it and throwing it in the garbage.
It is understandable that we just want things to go away, but even such things as paper towels or so-called “flushable” wipes are not made the way toilet paper is. Toilet paper will break apart and easily go down the pipe. Not so with other materials that instead stay intact and cause clogs.
